3 Healthy Habits to Prime Your Body for Healing

For the past few weeks, we’ve talked a lot about what it means to prime your body for healing and the physiological changes that happen when you prime your body.

If you missed these blogs, be sure to go back and read them by clicking the links above so you can understand the importance of priming your body when it comes to healing from Lupus.

So now you know why you need to prime your body, but how exactly do you start? That’s what we’ll be talking about today. 3 healthy habits to kickstart your healing.

Healthy Habits Determine Your Outcome with Lupus

Priming your body doesn’t require anything complicated. Many times when things are complicated, we become overwhelmed and this stops us from taking any action.

But the most important thing to do is just start.

Every night when you sleep, your body is resting and resetting. Rest and reset is essential to the priming process.

If you’re not sleeping or you wake up tired, we must address this immediately as we can turn a simple issue into a bigger problem. If this is you, please call us at 678-335-5566 to schedule a consult with us so we can help you.

As soon as you wake up, you can begin to prime your body and mind for the day ahead.

Here are three simple things I recommend that you do everyday.

1. Drink Lemon Water

Squeeze 1/2 a lemon into a glass and fill with water, preferably filtered and room temperature.

Drink first thing on an empty stomach.  Even though lemons themselves are acidic, they have an alkalizing effect on our bodies. Lemon wakes up our detox organs (liver and kidneys) and prepares them for the day ahead.

2. Stretch and Release

During the night our bodies rest but many times, we may feel stiff in the morning.

We want to get the stiffness out of our bones by moving our spine the way it’s designed to move.  Flexion, extension, sideband and rotation.

If you’re just starting out, follow us on our Youtube channel where we upload new Yoga sequences each week, including various stretching videos.

3. Plan Your Day

At the beginning of each week, do a brain dump of all that you want to get done.

Then each day you’ll write down your top 3 priorities. Make sure you only write down 3 because long to-do lists can make us overwhelmed and prevent us from doing anything. If you want, you can plan your meals for the day as well.

In the morning, you’ll review your plan for the day and “decide” to honor your plan.

Planning ahead and honoring your plan is the best thing you can do weekly and daily to set yourself up for success.  This way, you don’t leave your life and health to chance.

If you have an appointment with your girlfriend or with you doctor, would you decide last minute that you won’t keep that promise to them?  Make the same commitment with your own priorities.

Honoring ourselves by doing what we say is a way to cultivate self respect and love, which is an essential ingredient to healing.

I know this seems so simple but I ask you to start with these three things everyday. When these 3 tips become healthy habits, you’ll begin to feel like you have control over your life and health and you can begin doing even more for your healing.

Remember, health and healing is an inside job.
