In this chaotic time in history, the most important thing you can do is boost your immune system to safeguard yourself against the coronavirus.

As autoimmune patients, we potentially have “compromised” immune systems.  

Your immune system is what fights the battles with the bad guys to protect you from harmful bacteria, viruses, parasites, etc.

But here’s the caveat. We are also told we have an overactive immune system.  So many patients are told not to take things that boost the immune system.  

This is partly true but not the full truth. 

Depending on what symptoms you have and how severe your autoimmunity is right now, you may have an immune system that’s not able to “clear” all the debris and fragments from the “battles” with the bad guys.

You see, your immune system is good at surveilling the enemy in your body and removing it, pronto.  After it does, immune activation should be completely done and back to ground zero.

But the problem with autoimmunity is that we have constant inflammation that our bodies cannot get rid of, and every time the immune system is activated, it leaves a mess and is not sufficient at cleaning all the debris and fragments.

So here we are at risk with the coronavirus.  While for most people it’s a simple flu, for an immune compromised autoimmune patient, it can be bad.

The coronavirus can create inflammation in your body, altering the DNA of your cells.

Not only will this cause sickness from the flu, but it can trigger an autoimmunity flare as well.

How to Boost Your Immune System

It’s so important that you do everything you can to protect yourself.

Follow these tips:

1. Limit exposure by staying home.

2. Stay hydrated by drinking 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water everyday.

4. Create a ritual to get restful sleep each night.
